Montignoso
Perced on the highest hill between Volterra and San Gimignano, Montignoso was known in ancient times as Mons Igneus, because a fire would be lighted in its watchtower as a signal to San Gimignano that Volterra was attacking.
Due to this strategic position, the small village came under the domination of many different powers all through the Middle Ages, until it fell under Florentine jurisdiction in 1260.
And now, on this spot in the very heart of medieval Tuscany, where your gaze can wander over vineyards, woods and fields dotted with olive trees - among ancient villages, that are set like precious gems against the green hills - there is this splendid villa.
The Villa
The Villa and its annex can together accommodate up to 20 people, offering the perfect solution for groups of friends traveling together, family reunions, business meetings or small seminars, parties or celebrations.
Both houses have been finely renovated and furnished with sober and elegant taste. They reveal extreme attention to details and to the choice of exquisite materials with strong ties to Tuscan tradition: terracotta floors, coffered ceilings, the kitchen and some bathrooms entirely in marble, massive fireplaces made of pietra serena stone, and the balcony of Pienza travertine
It all weaves a distinctive spell, immediately promising you a unique and exclusive charming vacation.
The Rooms in the Villa
Main Villa (approx 500 sqm): 4+2 guests
Ground floor:
spacious kitchen with fireplace - fully equipped with barbecue, oven, 5 burner gas stove, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerators, freezer, espresso machine - storeroom, dining room with fireplace, large living room with fireplace, toilet.
Both the kitchen and the living room open onto a splendid loggia with pergola, equipped with garden furniture.
Upper floor:
2 double bedrooms (one of which is a very large master suite), both with ensuite bathroom with shower, study with writing desk and sofa bed.
Solarium terrace with outdoor shower.
The Annex Rooms
Annex (approx 300 sqm): 12+2 guests
Ground floor:
large living room with fireplace and sofa bed, 1 double bedroom, 1 bathroom with shower.
Upper floor:
4 double bedrooms (one with ensuite shower bathroom), 1 bedroom with bunk bed, 2 extra bathrooms with shower.
The Loggia
The heart of life in the Villa is undoubtedly its wonderful loggia.
Outdoor breakfasts and dinners alfresco, cooking and grilling for everybody, dances, events, celebrations or simply enjoying what it means living in an ancient and exclusive country residence in Tuscany.
The Pool
This exquisite picture is rounded out by a superbe infinity pool (with an important size of 8.5 x 15m and a depth of 1.20-4m) which combine fun and relaxation.
The swimming pool is open seasonally and is equipped with deck chairs and sun loungers.
The Park
Standing proudly alongside its annex and encircled by thick walls, Villa Montignoso is surrounded by a large and exclusive estate: 9 hectares of gardens and woodland that embrace the intimacy and absolute privacy of our guests, while offering an enchanting setting for walks and relaxing afternoons spent outdoors.
